I occasionally have Westie puppies for sale. The West Highland White Terrier, commonly called a Westie, has it's roots in the highlands of Scotland and they make a wonderful and energetic companion.

The short legged terrier breeds of Scotland were generally bred as hunters and to control vermin in the villages, mills and coal mines of the area. It was soon found that they made excellent companions as well.

The West Highlands White Terrier was developed as a special breed largely through the efforts of Colonel Edward Donald Malcolm of Poltalloch, Argyllshire, Scotland. The Colonel loved to hunt, and kept a pack of variously colored terriers trained as hunters. One day a reddish colored terrier emerging from cover was mistaken for a fox and accidentally shot. Prior to this, white terriers had been considered undesirable, but Colonel Malcolm decided to thereafter breed only white dogs, which could be readily identified in the field. This was the beginning of the Westie breed.

Westie Puppies are very cute and lovable, and an adult male will be about 11 inches high at the shoulder, and the female about an inch less. They typically weigh 14 to 22 lbs and they display a round head with upright ears, a long white coat and a jaunty tail. Westie puppies are considered one of the most distinctly beautiful of the terrier breeds by many.

Friendly with strangers, and fond of companionship, Westie Puppies are suitable for people living in towns and cities as well as country dwellers, and the Westie dogs are very active indoors and will do okay without a yard. They typically live to 15 years or more.

When I have Westie puppies for sale they are very popular and seldom last long. Children and adults all love their look and their enthusiastic, friendly attitude. They are certainly among my favorites as well.
